This past week, I reached out to a handful of author contacts/former associates to help with edits on the Sandy Hook children's book my friend Amber is working on (http://www.gofundme.com/1zoefs?pc=fb_cr). One email exchange was surprisingly random and oddly enough, eerily similar to an October 2010 incident:
So when you emailed me the other day, I kept wondering why your name was so familiar, despite the obvious... then I realized today that your name is almost exactly the same as one of the characters in a novella that I wrote. Check it out: Third Time's the Charm
(Description from Amazon: In fact, Liz Carlson will settle for a normal man. A normal man with a job, that is. Married twice, then divorced twice, Liz had her rose-colored glasses fall off and shatter on the ground a long time ago. Her main focus now is raising her six-year-old daughter and surviving long days at work on her feet as a hairdresser. When Sloane Branden answers her call for help, quite literally, Liz doesn’t even give him a second glance. She has sworn off dating for as many years as it takes, and it seems that Sloane has done the same after his own tumultuous marriage.)
Liz' Response--
Wow, that really is a strange coincidence -- very cool! Another random yet similar story: When I was working for Cedar Fort, I'd just come off placing an author on Oprah and was talking on my cell to this author while crossing the street in SLC. A Chevy Astro van hit me in the crosswalk and miraculously, I essentially walked away with few injuries. The incident however caused me to miss CFI's acquisition meeting the next morning. Ironically enough, they discussed (and signed) a book about a woman named Liz who was hit by car. That's super weird too, right!? :)
